Born in Detroit, MI to Ulyses & Catherine Darkins.He was the first born of seven children. He was known as "Fly" to family and friends.

He was educated in the Detroit Public Schools and worked for Ford Motor Co. for years. He was multi- talented, he loved boating, fishing, cooking, and played the organ for various churches over the years. He was also a member of the New Birth Baptist Church.

He leaves to mourn his passing and cherish his memory his wife,of over 30 yrs. Surilla Darkins, Mother Catherine, mother in law Margaret, three sisters, one brother, four daughters, and three sons, Jerlin (Reginald), Gary, Aaron (Yvette), Apryl, Irby, Surilla(Kevin), Gentry, Lavatra (Stefon), 22 grandchildren, one great granddaughter, family and friends.
